High school football is king in Summerville, home of the Green Wave and John McKissick, the all-time winningest football coach at any level. This “Flower Town in the Pines” sits just outside Charleston and was originally established in the 1700s by residents of that city who were seeking respite from mosquitoes and summer swelter. Summerville also considers itself the birthplace of sweet tea.
